A Dream Which Came True

The following is a testimony of God’s great hand moving in our lives. The original email was dated back in Sept/Oct 2007.

Hello All,
Thank you for taking time to read this email!

The reason for this email is for an urgent call and an appeal. First and foremost a call to prayer and then an appeal for support. I will explain the events that happened to me that led us into mission.

The dream; Long about four or five years ago I had a dream. The dream was: I was nailed to a cross preaching and ministering the Word of life to a group of people I did not know. But, I did know that I was in Russia. They were Russian brethren. In the dream, I was nailed to the cross in the flesh and I was speaking in the Spirit. It was as if a river of living water was flowing through me. From time to time I would view myself in the third person as I was watching this event. The other time it was a first person event. I did not understand the words I was speaking in my mind, but I knew that they understood and received the Word of life with eagerness and with joy by the Spirit. When the work was accomplished I was lifted up again to another place, and the dream repeated again. Upon completion of the part two dream, I woke up in the Spirit in joy with eager expectation.

Over the last few years I would from time to time think about this dream and wonder if it was of God, or just my imagination. However, I have always felt that one day this dream would come true. I cannot explain how and did not know why or even when, with whom, how etc…

During the last year or so Lisa and I have been in contact with members from the Vancouver Ecclesia. Brother Mike and the brethren meet in a home in Vancouver, Wa. They have been in fellowship and participated in the ministry of Carelinks for many years, being the United States contact for Carelinks and the distributors of Bible Basics books throughout the country. Duncan Heaster is the overseer of Carelinks Ministries based in Riga, Latvia. Which is part of the former USSR.

I have not been able to put the dream and the recent events and contacts that God has placed in our lives together until something short of amazing happened. Rather incredible! Rather, something only God can do!!

Duncan and his wife Cindy have a Bible camp every winter in Riga, Latvia for the group they oversee in their home town. After the Bible camp, they go to the Ukraine to a town called Polvata. There they have a week long winter Bible school for the brethren who live out in the country and rural areas. This is the only Bible training some these people have all year. Many live too far out in the countryside to gather regularly and meet, as these brethren are scattered all over Russia and the area around the Ukraine and Latvia. Also, the increase of persecution from the Russian Government and Muslim extremists prevent them from having safe fellowship.

One day last week, Duncan and Cindy were wondering whom God would send to help teach the winter Bible weekend and week school as no one else has been able to help for whatever reason. They decided to ask me if I would be willing to do this as they had no other option.

Here is the portion of an email I received on 10/4 from Duncan;
Talking of which. Cindy and I have just been eating together in the kitchen and wringing our hands about our inability to get anyone to come over and lead the Winter Bible Schools. We really can't see to find anyone…..

We were wondering what you'd think of coming over to lead studies? Would be about a week I guess. Could be longer if you wished. Timing can be flexible, when convenient to you- but late December or any time January. What do you think?

When I received this email, immediately this dream came to mind. I was taken back and prayed, “Oh Lord God is this true, was that dream really of you?” For the rest of the day I was in a state of numbness and awe. I forwarded the note to Lisa. I said nothing to her in the e-mail except, “What do you think?” Lisa woke up later and checked her email and said. “Do you want to go to Russia?” I replied, “I want to make sure that God wants me to go and it’s of God not my own ambition.”

The next morning, we arrived in the L.A. area to deliver a load. Lisa wakes up and says to me, “I think you should go to Russia.” I said, “What do you mean?” She replied, “Do you remember that dream you had a while ago?” I said, “Yes.” She says, “I think God is calling you to Russia.” I said, “Can we afford it?” She said, “How can we not afford it?” God will provide. I said, “Ok, you’re right, I think He does, lets see what happens next?” I replied to Duncan’s email on 10/5:

Dear Duncan and Cindy,
I would be honored to come and share. Lisa will not be able to come due to family issues. Your email asking me to do this was confirmation on some things. I cannot go into it here. I have never done this sort of thing before. It will be a step out, if you will. Not sure on the details. Looks like I would be free the first half of Jan. 08. I am sure that God will provide the funds, as Lisa and I feel this is His doing. I am very humbled by this.

Things I need to know. Where will I be flying into? Is it going to be -30 below? Do you have 120 US electrical outlets so I can charge my lap top? Where will I stay? Things like that.
We can start looking for flights and rates and get a date nailed down.

Please let me know what you would like to cover in the class. I will do my best according to the grace He gives.

This, my friends, is where God gives the second witness of second witnesses! Around, 12:00 noon I sent this note to Duncan. At 12:15 I received a phone call from Duncan, from Latvia, surprised and totally amazed at what just happened to him. You see, about the time Lisa and I were talking about this and wondering if this trip was of God and a possible fulfillment of that dream, Duncan was praying that God would send someone whom He had prepared to do this Bible school. As he got up from praying and was just going to go to bed, (I think it is 10 hrs differences in time there) something told him to go check his email. Just a thought, I don’t know how he knew. He just knew. He hits the email button and receives our email. An instant and direct answer to his prayer for God to provide. Amazing! (Keep in mind he lives half way around the world?!) In excitement he wakes up his wife and tells her the news. He then calls Mike in Vancouver to get my phone number. He sent this email after our conversation:

Hi dear S & L
As explained on the 'phone, your email was quite literally an amazing answer to prayer!
.
This was also a direct answer to us that I am supposed to go to Russia to do whatever is needed. I am still beside myself, in awe and wonder. I pray just for a faithful and willing heart to deliver the messages in obedience.
