The Day Of Birth
A few years ago Lisa’s sister Judy was pregnant and expecting. Lisa wanted so badly to be with her sister when she gave birth to our nephew. Over the road trucking is a job where we are away from home for weeks at a time. We planned on being home in the middle of January as she was expected due about that time. She prayed and prayed that her sister would hold out to have her baby unil we got home.
The last week of December Lisa and I got a load going from Kent , WA to Calgary , Alberta . While we were in Canada on December 31 we received a phone call that our house had a sign in the widow saying “For Sale.” We said “For sale!?” We did not know what was going on. We had someone go over to the house to check it out as we did not put the house on the market. In a panic we called our work and they swapped us out with another truck to get us home right away. Mean while, we were perplexed as the information we were getting from the neighbors and our real estate agent did not make sense. On January 2 we finally got home.
Apparently, somebody from a mortgage company that we had NO dealings with kicked in the door and broke into our house. They put a “For Sale” sign in the window and changed the locks. We called and called and found out someone, “Wrongfully repossessed the wrong house!” Yikes!! Somebody mixed up the address with the house down the street. Mean while we had a mess to clean up.
A few days later while getting the locks fixed and things getting back in order, we received a phone call that, “Judy was in labor!” “Get to the hospital now!” We got in the car and rushed over there. A few hours later our nephew John was born.
Is it really so hard to the see the good in evil. I mean when we are going through something like this it is hard to the see the end from the beginning. But God had a plan. He answered Lisa’s prayer and got us home in time to so she could be with her sister as she was giving birth. If this mishap did not happen to us the way it did we would not have been there. Truly our God is great and mighty, awesome in power and might! For He alone knows the “Day of Birth.”

The day of death
Lisa’s stepdad Andy was getting up there in age. It was getting too difficult for Lisa’s mom to handle him alone so she put him in an assisted living care facility. Lisa and I worried that if Andy died while on the road trucking we would not be able to be there to help her mom deal with all the funeral arrangements and everything. As time went on we worried even more as his condition was slipping away. Our next scheduled time wasn’t for a few weeks.
One week we happened to have a load that delivered in the Seattle/Tacoma area that had an extra day on it. This meant for us that we could get by the house, grab the mail, and check on things. We figured we had time as the load did not deliver until the next day. So, we went in to visit with Andy and say hi.
We arrived in the afternoon around 2 p.m.. He did not look too good and we wondered if we would be around if he died, as we had to go the next day. That night Andy died in his sleep. We received a call in the morning that he died.
Amazing how God knows the time of death. He arranged it for us to be there even when we were not supposed to be there. We were able to drop the load in the morning and go directly to time off to take care of things. I think about this and other stories that God has given us to share with you. He is so intimately connected to all the details and moves the heavens and the earth for His people. What a blessed people we are. What a hope we have in the trials we face from day to day. God is on the throne and is not slack in His promises.
